Babak Movassaghi, PhD, MBA, has been appointed CEO of InfiniteMD and will be instrumental in the leadership of new U.S.-based verticals. These initiatives include a focus on large employers with global employee populations, pharmaceutical partners designing new digital health programs, and health systems seeking to implement InfiniteMD’s platform to offer their own expert second opinion services. He co-founded InfiniteMD in 2017, initially serving as President and helping the company raise its Series A round.
Movassaghi brings with him extensive experience in the healthcare technology space, previously serving as the VP of Innovation & New Ventures and the General Manager of the Boston Innovation Center for Flex ($26B NASDAQ: FLEX), where he operated a $12M annual P&L and generated a manufacturing pull-through of over $120M within the first year. At Flex, he established partnerships with major corporations and organizations including Amazon Robotics, Amgen, MassRobotics, Lab Central, Booz Allen Hamilton, Liberty Mutual, GE Ventures, and the U.S. Department of Defense. Movassaghi also oversaw Flex’s corporate venture arm, evaluating and funding mid-stage technology and IP-driven startups.
Earlier, during his time at Philips Healthcare, Movassaghi invented and prototyped three methods for the treatment of coronary arterial disease that are currently generating $170+M in sales: Allura XperSwingTM, 3D CA, and Stent Boost. He was awarded Philips’ innovation prize and was recognized among the top 2% of talent within the company through his appointment to the Philips Leadership Program for High-Potentials.
Most recently, he served as COO of 2nd.MD, one of the leading medical second opinion telehealth companies in the US, where he was responsible for the clinical and IT operations.
“After success internationally and the rapid growth of our exceptional provider network, opportunities have been finding us in the domestic market and we believe there is ample opportunity for us to capitalize on new partnerships,” said Movassaghi. “Our new cloud-based case management solution is also coming early next year and offers an attractive platform for both hospitals and pharmaceutical partners to facilitate innovative programs and consumer outreach.”
Movassaghi holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Utrecht University, a MSc in Theoretical Physics from the University of Dusseldorf, and an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
